Drawing instruction, structured

6 distinct service tracks available right now

Each service at Claimhavens is built around one idea: drawing is a skill, not a talent. The structure here reflects that — focused, progressive, and honest about what practice actually requires.

DRW

Six service tracks

Each track addresses a specific gap — not a vague skill level. Pick by what you're actually struggling with, not by a label.

Foundations track

Lines, proportion, and basic form — the things most people skip and then wonder why their drawings feel wrong. Covers pencil grip, line quality, and simple geometric construction.

  • Line confidence exercises
  • Box and ellipse drawing
  • Proportion grids

Figure drawing

Gesture, anatomy, and weight — approached through timed poses and structural breakdown rather than copying reference blindly.

  • Gesture sessions (30s–10min)
  • Skeletal landmarks
  • Muscle group mapping

Perspective and space

One-point, two-point, and atmospheric depth. Practical for architectural sketching, environment work, and anyone who wants objects to sit convincingly in a scene.

Light and value

Shading is where most self-taught artists plateau. This track works through value scales, form shadows, and cast shadows using simple sphere-and-cube setups before moving to complex subjects.

8 weeks

The average time to visible, measurable progress

Not a promise — an observation from working through structured practice. Eight weeks of deliberate sessions, roughly four hours per week, produces drawings that look noticeably different from week one. The gap between (what you see) and (what your hand produces) narrows with targeted repetition.

The structured approach matters more than raw hours. Unfocused drawing for 40 hours achieves less than focused practice for 16.

Practical process, no guesswork

Process

Getting started doesn't require a kit or a specific background. You send work, get feedback with specific observations — not general encouragement — and then you draw again.

Critique notes are written to be actionable. Each one identifies exactly what's happening structurally and suggests one or two exercises to address it directly.

1
Pick a track

Choose the service that matches what's actually blocking your progress — not the most beginner-friendly option by default.

2
Draw and submit

Complete the assigned exercises or send existing work. Photos of paper drawings work fine — no scanner required.

3
Read the critique

Annotated feedback arrives within a few business days. Each note references a specific area of the drawing with a clear reason.

4
Repeat with intent

Progress in drawing is cumulative. The cycle of drawing, feedback, and redrawing is where the actual improvement happens — there's no shortcut around it.
